Baster beer label designs

Simultaneously, we worked on the new logo for JB Browar and beer labels. The logo was meant to evoke the old emblem used by Baster in the early 20th century. The label, on the other hand, was envisioned as a blend of modernity and tradition.

For us, the key was to create a label that doesn’t feel contrived but seamlessly aligns with the beer’s character and it’s heritage. The term is often overused in marketing and advertising, but in this case, when one of the descendants and heirs of the original creator is overseeing the beer’s production, it’s hard to find a more fitting word. Moreover, the local reputation of the product has endured for over 100 years, so we can confidently assume we’re not dealing with just any product. This made it even more crucial for us to craft labels that are good, intriguing, and aesthetically pleasing.

Branding the beer label

After presenting initial concepts, the client selected one of the proposed directions. Following minor modifications, we finalized the work on the prototype label and moved on to developing labels for additional flavors. This led to the creation of label designs for beer genres: pilsner, lager, wheat, and pilsner with mango-passion fruit.

In addition to the labels, we also designed a cardboard four-pack packaging, taking care of both the graphic design and the packaging’s shape and folding method. This resulted in a distinctive branding that was subsequently extended to other ventures, including a restaurant.

Designing beer labels is always an interesting endeavor. The nature of the product typically allows for a bit more creative freedom, while at the same time demands careful consideration of the product and its key characteristics. In the case of local ventures that have grown from passion and family history, it’s essential to capture the right character for both the product and the individuals behind it. This approach allows us to create labels that the owner can identify with and take pride in.
